She uses observation, reading, visiting art shows and galleries for her inspiration and her background includes chalk talks, murals and commissions. Her collection includes florals and still scenes including the outdoors, animals and birds in both oil and acrylic. She sells her art privately and displays at the Lititz Art Show and the Landis Woods Art Show. Meet Gladys on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 1-3 PM in the gallery for our ‘Meet the Artist’ event!
Featuring Artist Jen McCleary
On Display: February & March 2025
As a professional artist, Jen— daughter of Tel Hai resident’s Barbara & Bruce McCleary—works both digitally (photo-collage and graphic design) and in more traditional forms (mixed-media collage/painting from found and vintage objects). She views the two seemingly different media as “complimentary and rooted in the same process of collecting and arranging images.” In her work with wheel-thrown ceramics, she alters them through decoupage and the traditional Japanese art of kintsugi (repairing broken items with gold and lacquer).
Featuring Artist Beverly Bruns
On Display: April & May 2025
Beverly— a Tel Hai resident artist— puts her fine art training to brilliant use creating images that bring to life the richness of colors found on the East Coast. Raised in Chester County, she shares her deep appreciation of the area by capturing the “colors of the grey-blue Atlantic with welcoming beaches and rocky shores, hectic greens of summer forests, yellows, oranges and browns of fall and winter.” In “Kennett Meeting House” those autumn hues reign supreme providing a wonderful contrast to the simplicity of the white meeting house. Warm light bathes the scene, effectively bringing peace and serenity to the viewer’s soul.
Tel Hai plans community-sponsored day trips, shopping excursions, overnight motor coach tours and land-and-sea cruises throughout the year to popular and in-demand destinations.
From touring the Holy Lands in Israel to basking in the sun in Bermuda, a vast array of local, regional and international trips provide residents with a wide range of choices for every interest. For many, the journey is as much fun as the destination when traveling with their neighbors and friends.
For questions on future Tel Hai sponsored trips, contact Chaplain David Hicks at dhicks@telhai.org or 610-273-9333 ext. 2443.
