Tel Hai Hosts Blood Drive: Jan. 14

MillerKeystoneJoin Tel Hai Retirement Community as we donate blood to the Miller Keystone Blood Center, on Thursday, January 14 from 10 AM to 3 PM in our Auditorium/Chapel. Established in 1971, Miller-Keystone Blood Center is an independent, not-for-profit, 501(c)3 community organization that serves as the only blood provider to local hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Dauphin, Lehigh, Luzerne, Northampton, and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon and Warren (NJ) counties; only blood donated through MKBC is transfused at these facilities.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is not affiliated with the American Red Cross. MKBC is a member of America’s Blood Centers (ABC), a national network of independent, non-profit community blood centers that provide approximately 60% of the blood products transfused in the United States.  Not-for-profit, Pennsylvania-based MKBC is one of the nation’s best-regarded, highly experienced blood centers.

Tel Hai Hosts The Lukens Band- Dec. 18

Lukens BandTel Hai Retirement Community invites the public to attend a concert event featuring The Lukens Band on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts on the campus of Tel Hai. This event is free and open to the public.

Dating back to its origins in 1911, the Lukens Concert Band promotes the musical heritage of our nation with harmonious melodies for people of all ages. From marches to Broadway hits along with instrumental and vocal solos, popular standards include “Guadalcanal,” “Ol’ Man River,” and “Thunder and Blazes Polka.”

Tel Hai Hosts ‘Astral Harp: Star of Bethlehem’ on Dec. 14

 

Astral HarpTel Hai Retirement Community’s Life Enrichment Committee invites the public to attend ‘Astral Harp’s Star of Bethlehem’ on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts on the campus of Tel Hai. This event is free and open to the public.

Astral Harp’s Star of Bethlehem program by Kevin & Janet Witman is a visual and musical journey into the astronomical wonder that occurred in the night sky over Bethlehem during the time of Christ. Kevin presents a light lecture with stunning astrophotography while harpist Janet performs her arrangements of Christmas carols. The presentation is unique, beautiful and inspiring for all ages.

Kevin is a planetarium operator/lecturer at the North Museum in Lancaster, PA. His astrophoto-graphy has been seen on BBC’s “Sky at Night,” MSNBC and Space Weather websites. Janet is a nationally awarded harpist whose playing has been described as “poetry in motion.” She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, principal harpist with two professional orchestras, and directs the Brandywine Harp Orchestra.

Thank you to Tel Hai residents and friends who donated more than $425 to benefit Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Mr. Ross Kershey, who presented a Life Enrichment Committee retrospective talk on ‘Remembering Pearl Harbor’ on December 7.

A former Coatesville Area Senior High School history teacher and local historian, Kershey shared about this impactful 1941 attack and the sacrifice of our Veterans.

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the public to a Tel Hai Concert Series presentation called “The Joy of Piano Duets- Four Hands, One Piano” with pianists Jeffrey Uhlig and Yu Xi Wang on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the community’s StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts, located at 4000 Tree Line Drive in Honey Brook. This exciting and enthralling musical journey includes musical numbers from Mozart, Debussy, Schumann, Poulenc, and Beethoven.

Jeffrey Uhlig has appeared as collaborative pianist throughout America and also has performed in Russia. Notable performances include The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC and at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. Uhlig plays regularly with many members of The Philadelphia Orchestra including Concert Master David Kim, Principal Cellist, Hai-Ye Ni and Principal Trombonist, Nitzan Haroz.

Pianist Yu Xi Wang made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2002 as the winner of the Artist International Competition, and subsequently released her debut CD in China under JSCP. As an avid soloist and chamber musician, Yu Xi has performed in venues such as New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Jay Sharp Theatre of Lincoln Center, Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall, Rock Hall Auditorium at Temple University, Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University, and Gore Recital Hall at the University of Delaware. A native of Beijing, China, Yu Xi began playing the piano at the age of three and later studied at the Central Conservatory of Music. After moving to the United States, she studied at The Juilliard School under the tutelages of Herbert Stessin, Jerome Lowenthal, and Julian Martin, obtaining her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in piano performance.

The presentation will include information regarding legal documentation & estate planning, introduction to Medicare/ Medicaid provisions, resource assessment and the danger of divesting resources. Panagopoulos serves clients as part of the Estate, Trust Planning, Administration, and Elder Law Departments at Brubaker Connaughton Goss & Lucarelli LLC.

Panagopoulos received her bachelor of arts from Franklin &
Marshall College and her juris doctorate from Villanova
University. She served two cherkships with the Honorable
Michael Georgelis and the Honorable James Cullen, both in the
Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. She is an active member in the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Lancaster Bar Association and the Lancaster Law Review as Editor.
